ACT IV. Scene 1

Friar Lawrence: Thursday? There's not enough time.

Paris: That's what Capulet wants, and I'm not about to slow him down.

F.L.: You said you didnt' know Juliet's opinion. It's not fair; I don't like it.

P: She is sad about Tybalt's death and and Capulet feels that this marriage will make her happy.

F.L.: (aside) I would do it if I didn't know why the marriage should be slowed- Here comes Juliet.

P: Hey, wife.

Juliet: Hang on. I will only be your wife when we're married.

P: Yes, we will be married this Thursday.

J: Exactly, what needs to happen will happen.

FL: That's true.

P: Are you here for confession?

J: Well, I'd be confessing to you.

P: Don't deny that you love me.

J: I'll say that I love him.

P: Also, that you love me too.

J: If I did, it would be more valuable if I didn't tell you face to face.

P: You're crying.

J: They have little victory because it wasn't any better before I was crying.

P: By saying that, you are hurting yourself more by saying that.

J: It's the truth and I meant it.

P: Your face is my face too, and you are ruining it.

J:It could be yours because it is not mine. father, are you free or do I have to wait until mass?

FL: Yes, I am free. My lord, wiil you leave us alone.

P: of course. See you on Thursday.(Exits)

J: Close the door and come weep with me.

FL: I know your problem, Juliet, but I can do nothing about it. I hear you have been forced to marry Paris this Thursday.

J: Don't tell me you've heard of this unless you can help me. If you can't, I will kill myself. Romeo and I were married; I can't just leave him for Paris. Give me some advice or the knife will control my difficulties and solve the problem you couldn't. Tell me now but I still long to die if you don't have a solution.

FL: My dear, I have an idea, although it might be dangerous. If you are willing to feign death, then I will help you out.

J: Whatever it is, I'll do it so I can be with Romeo.

FL: Okay. Go home, and act as if you want to marry Paris. Male sure you are alone in your room; Not even your nurse can be with you. (Holds out vial) When you are in bed, take this, and it will give you the appearance of death. It only lasts 42 hours, and you will be taken to the Capulet mausoleum where Romeo will be waiting to take you to Mantua. THis will save you from marrying Paris, if you are will ing to do it.

J: Give it to me, I am not afraid to do it.

FL: (giving Juliet the vial) Go! Be strong; I will sen a friar to tel Romeo our plan.

J: Goodbye dear Father, and thank you so very much.

ACT IV. Scene 2

(Enter Father Capulet, Mother Capulet, Nurse, and Servingmen two or three)

Capulet: There are a lot of guests on this list. We need at least 20 cooks. Servingman, go hire me 20 cooks.

Servingman: You will only have the best sir. I can tell they are good if they lick their fingers.

Capulet: How can you make sure of that?

Servingman: If their fingers have flavor worth licking on their fingers then they are worthy of cooking for you, if they cannot lick their fingers, then they will not be hired.

Capulet: Okay now leave. Why has my daughter gone to Friar Lawrence?

Nurse: Ay, forsooth

Capulet: Well maybe he will talk some sense into her.

Nurse: Here she comes, and with a happy facial expression.

Capulet: Now my daughter, where have you been?

Juliet: Where i was, i learned to make up for my sin of disagreeing with you father. I never again will disagree with you father. I will marry Paris. You rule me.

Capulet: Go to the County. Go tell him of this. I will have you and Paris married by tomorrow morning.

Juliet: I met Paris at Friar Lawrence's cell. I told him I loved him but I stayed modest.

Capulet: I'm very glad. Stand up. this is how it should be. Now go and get him here.

Juliet: Nurse will you help me pick out my outfit forr Paris?

Lady Capulet: No, not until Thursday, there is plenty of time.

Capulet: No, you can go with her Nurse. We will be in church tomorrow.

Lady Capulet: We should wind our planning down. It is almost night time.

Capulet: I will be up and about tonight but do not worry. Everything is fine. Go to Juliet and help pick her clothing. I won't sleep tonight. I will walk to see Paris and help prepare him for tomorrow. My heart is full of joy right now.
